Public Asked to Nominate Purple Heart Recipients for Special Fair “Operation Fostering Freedom” Program
NEW for 2017! The Progressive Stark County Fair will feature an inaugural salute to Veterans with a special program honoring Purple Heart recipients. “Operation Fostering Freedom” provides fair entrants the opportunity to enter patriotic quilts, afghans and lap throws in any of 14 categories for judging and ribbons. The red, white and blue entries will then be gifted to nominated Purple Heart recipients.
How to Nominate a Purple Heart Recipient
The public is asked to submit a letter of nomination of any current living Stark County resident awarded a Purple Heart. All that is required for nomination is the recipient’s name, address, contact information, branch of service, where served and a copy of discharge papers showing Purple Heart recipient. How to Enter Your Project for “Operation Fostering Freedom”
Deadline for entry in the special category is August 12, 2017. Entry information is available online at StarkCountyFair.com, along with the entry form. Entries may also be completed at the Fair Office. Entrants will be asked to sign a waiver donating their entry to the project.
Special Exhibit in Art Hall During Fair
The special “Operation Fostering Freedom” entries will be displayed in the Art Hall during the Fair, and presented to nominated Purple Heart recipients at a public presentation ceremony.
Presentation Ceremony in October
A public “Operation Fostering Freedom” Presentation Ceremony will take place on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 2pm, at the Westbrook Park United Methodist Church, 2521 12th Street NW, Canton, OH 44708. The public is invited to attend.
