4-H FOOD DRIVE at all Fair Gates. Help fill a truck with cans of food and non-perishables for urgent gulf coast disaster relief.Drop off at any Fair gate until the end of the Fair on Labor Day Monday. The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank will ship to Texas. The Stark 4-H will also have a special hog auction on Saturday, Sept. 2, at 9 a.m., and proceeds will be donated to Texas 4-H groups affected by Hurricane Harvey.

We are putting out the call to our community and Fair friends to help us fill a semi-truck with food. Donations can be dropped off at the Fair gates as you are coming to the Fair or the public can simply drive up the gates to drop off cans of food.

Stark County 4-H program kids and the Progressive Chevrolet Stark County Fair are teaming up with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

4-H Kids Donating Special Hog Auction Sale Proceeds to 4-H Kids in Texas

The 4-H kids showing animals and projects at the Stark County Fair came up with a plan as a group to help the Texas 4-H Clubs affected by Hurricane Harvey. There will be a special hog auctioned off on Saturday, Sept. 2, at the end of the Junior Fair 4-H Market Hog Livestock Sale at 9 a.m. Proceeds from the special auction will be donated to the “Texas 4-H Relief Support Campaign for 4-H Programs Affected by Hurricane Harvey.”

“This is 4-H kids helping 4-H kids in need,” said Fair Board President Dale Klick. “The gulf coast region of Texas has experienced massive damage and destruction and our 4-H kids have teamed up with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and put together a plan all on their own to take action and help their fellow 4-H kids.”

The hog for the special auction was donated by the Klick family. The hog will be processed courtesy of Don’s Custom Meats and the meat will be donated to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. Additionally, the Stark 4-H initiated a food drive at the Fair.
