General Rules & Guidelines
When making entries, specify how many stalls will be needed.
Premiums must be picked up during the Fair. No checks will be written.
 
Judging: SATURDAY, Sept. 3, 2016 AT 9:00 A.M.
  1. No later than Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 5:00 P.M. each exhibitor MUST report the NUMBER OF ANIMALS being entered to the Superintendent in charge, otherwise no stalls will be available.
  2. Must be in place by 10:00 A.M., August 30, 2016
  3. An animal must appear in show ring, and be judged in order to be eligible for premium.
  4. There will be no parking of Stark County Livestock exhibitor’s or Junior Fair exhibitor’s livestock trailers or large trucks on the fairgrounds during the Fair in 2016.
  5. No entries in open class will be permitted to leave until 6:00 P.M. the last day of the Fair, Monday, September 5, 2016..
Ownership
  1. All animals competing must be entered in the name of their bona fide owners or their duly authorized agents. Should doubts arise, the management may require affidavits of ownership.
Admission to Ring
  1. This being an educational show, all exhibitors are requested to pay particular attention to both his/her dress and demeanor of their attendants.
  2. All attendants must be neatly and properly dressed on entering the show ring. Entry Fees 10% of first place Premium and $25.00 for membership or exhibitor ticket must be paid at time of making entries. Entries close Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 5:00 P.M.
  3. No person other than officials and attendants on duty in the ring, the judges of the class being exhibited and members of the Executive Committee will be admitted to the show ring.
  4. Only ponies awarded first class, when shown in hand, can compete in Championship Class.
  5. Unruly or unmanageable animals may be excused from the ring at the discretion of judge and/or management.
  6. Age of ponies and riders and drivers to be reckoned as being the 31st day of December in the year in which the individual was born.
  7. No Mini Horses

General Rules & Guidelines
  1. Entries in this department must be made not later than Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 5:00 P.M. Entry fees are 10% of first premium and $25.00 for membership or exhibitor ticket. These must be paid at time of making entries. No entrance fees required in Champion Classes. (Right is reserved to reject all entries if space is filled)
  2. There will be no parking of Stark County Livestock exhibitors or Junior Fair exhibitors livestock trailers or large trucks on the fairgrounds during the Fair in 2016.
  3. All livestock entries must be in place of exhibition by 10:00 A.M., August 30,2016 and remain until 6:00 P.M. the last day of the fair or premiums will be forfeited.
  4. A payment of all milk receipts will be made to the producers according to their weights.
Dairy Judging
  1. All animals must be recorded and appear in the name of the exhibitor on the records of the respective Associations, and registration certificates must be available at any time. Breeds will be alternating, starting with Holstein Class 1 (Bull Calf).
  2. Except for Champion Classes, which will receive ribbons only, all classes will get ribbons and premiums for places 1st through 10th.

General Rules & Guidelines
Entries close Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 5:00 P.M. All livestock entries must be in place of exhibition by 10:00 A.M., August 30, 2016 and remain until 6:00 P.M. the last day of the Fair or premiums will be forfeited.
 
There will be no parking of Stark County Livestock exhibitor’s or Junior Fair exhibitors livestock trailers or large trucks on the fairgrounds during the Fair in 2016.
  1. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION in the proper breed or transfer showing ownership, must be produced by exhibitor when requested by the Superintendent in charge. All animals regardless of age must be recorded and appear in the name of the exhibitor on the records of their respective association by the closing date for entries. Certificate of ownership and identification according to the breed organizations will be required before showing animals. All exhibitors must have registration papers in hand, not applied for, for all animals 4 months of age and older.
  2. All tattoos, identification of animals and registration papers must be produced for checking, if requested by the superintendent in charge.
  3. Entry fees are 10% of First Place Premium and $25.00 for membership or exhibitor ticket and must be paid when making entries.
  4. Animals shown in Jr. Fair Program must comply with the rule: Grooming limited to immediate family.
  5. Fans will not be allowed behind cattle in their space in the barn.
  6. All individual classes limited to 2 entries for each exhibitor or firm. All group classes limited to 1 entry for each exhibitor or firm.
  7. All exhibitors from Stark County will have preference on barn space. Out of county participants may be rejected due to space. This space will be determined after all entries are made. If space is not available your entry money will be refunded.
  8. All open class animals must be housed in open class barn, unless, exhibitor is in 4-H or approval for housing elsewhere, is given by the superintendent of the Beef Cattle.

General Rules & Guidelines
  1. All goats shown in open class must have a USDA approved Scrapies I.D. Tag or Tattoo.
  2. A list, of all animals shown, must be turned in to the Department Superintendent by show day. This list must include tag or tattoo numbers, breed and ages of goats. If the list is not turned in, premiums may be withheld.
  3. Does who have kidded less than 30 days prior to August 30th, 2016, or who are due to kid within 2 eeks after the Fair will not be permitted to be exhibited.
  4. All Entries in this Department must be in place for Exhibition by 10:00 A.M., AUGUST 30, 2016 and remain until 6:00 PM, the last day of the Fair or Premiums will be forfeited.  Entry fees 10% of First Place Premium per individual class entry, plus $25.00 for membership of exhibitor ticket.  Entry fees must be paid at the time of making entries.  Entries close Saturday, August 13, 2016, at 5:00 P.M.  Divisions may be combined or separated at the Superintendent's discretion to promote competition.
  5. Entries limited to pen space: please specify number of pens required. Director in charge reserves the right to limit the number of pens requested by exhibitors. Entries are restricted to Registered Does – Purebred and American Purebred to compete in the same classes. All buck goats are barred from Fairgrounds.
  6. Each exhibitor is limited to 2 entries in singles and 1 entry in groups. Entries in groups must be entered in individual classes under the same exhibitors name.
  7. The exhibitor must be the owner of the animal he/she exhibits. Each animal must have complied with the Inspection and Health Requirements of Livestock Exhibited in Ohio. The exhibitor will be required to present registration certificates when requested by the Director in Charge.
  8. All goats must be tattooed and de-horned.  All animals must be DEHORNED with NO MORE than 1/2" solid base to participate in the Stark
     County Fai.  A horn is determined to be more than a 1/2" length with asolid base.  No goats will be permitted on fairgroundswith scurs or horns over 1/2" in length.
  9. In classes where there is no competition, the judge wll place the animal according to merit.
There will be no parking of Stark County Livestock exhibitors or Junior Fair exhibitors livestock trailers or large trucks on the fairgrounds during the Fair in 2016.

General Rules & Guidelines
 
All open class sheep must remain until 6:00 P.M. the last day of the Fair, or premiums will be forfeited.

  5. Sheep to be shown in ring. All sheep must be registered by the bona fide owner and recorded in a standard register, which represents the particular breed. Sheep will be judged as to standard of each individual breed.
  6. All individual entries must appear in show ring during show.
  7. Each Exhibitor must be prepared to show registration paper if called for by the Superintendent of the Sheep Department.
  8. There will be no parking of Stark County Livestock exhibitors or Junior Fair exhibitors livestock trailers or large trucks on the fairgrounds during the Fair in 2016.
NO UNWORTHY EXHIBITS SHALL RECEIVE A PREMIUM.
EACH EXHIBITOR IS LIMITED TO 2 ENTRIES IN SINGLES, 1 ENTRY IN GROUPS.

General Rules & Guidelines
  1. All Open Class Livestock entries must be in place for exhibition by 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 30t, 2016, and remain until 6:00 P.M. the last day of the Fair or premiums will be forfeited.
  2. Entry fees of 10% of First Premium and $25.00 for membership or exhibitor ticket must be paid at the time of making entries. Entries close Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 5:00 P.M.  In the event of a conflict between the Fairbook, website an any other publication, the Fairbook shall rule.
  3. Swine to be shown in a ring.  All animals must be entered in the owner's name.
  4. Exhibitors are confined to Stark County residents and shall not exceed two (2) entries.  If the Open Class entry is, also, entered in the Junior Fair Shows, then exhibitor must declare the entry by eartag number at the time of unloading.  All Exhibitors shall declare the date of birth at the time of unloading.
  5. All breeds will compete in the classes.
  6. Classes will be divided equally by approximate date of birth with approximately twelve hogs per class at the discretion of th Department Superintendent.
  7. All barrows must be castrated, evidence of late castration will be grounds for disqualification.  All decisions of the judge will be final.
  8. No hogs are to be shown with oil or powder used for grooming substance.  All exhibitors must follow exhibition rules set foth by the O.R.C. 901-19.
  9. Exhibitor is responsible for daily watering, feeding and cleaning of the pens.  Exhibitor is also responsible fo cleaning the pen at the completion of the Fair as provided in the Junior Fair Swine Rules.

September 1, 2014.  All Birds must be removed by 8:00 P.M. on Monday, September 1, 2014.  If they are not removed by 8:00 P.M., they will not be allowed to exhibit in 2014.
  13. All birds remnoved must be released by the Superintendent or a representative of the Jr. Fair Committee.
  14. No diseased specimens admittd.  Birds developing symptoms after admission must be removed from the building at once by the exhibitor or a representative of the Jr. Fair Committee.  Birds should be lcie free.
  15. All exhibitors must turn n a NPIP paper or a negative pollorium test to the person in charge of the building before unloading the birds.

General Show Rules
  1. The show will be governed by the latest revised rules of the American Rabbit Breeders Association ARBA.
  2. The Stark County Rabbit and Cavy Breeders will not be held responsible in the case of fire, theft, accident or providential destruction. All precautions will be taken to eliminate danger of accidents or mistakes in the showroom and care of the animals.
  3. Any animal showing signs of illness or stress will be sent home.
  4. Membership or Exhibitor passes can be purchased at the Stark County Fair office. Passes are $25 and allow you to enter any Department listed in the fair catalog. Your pass will allow entry for 1 person everyday of the fair.
  5. All animals are to be plainly and permanently tattooed or tagged Prior to Check In. All tattoos and tags must match the number on the entry form Substitutions will only be permitted in the same breed, sex and class. All other substitutions will be $1.00 each.
  6. Only rabbits entered in the show are permitted to be sold during the fair.
  7. A registrar will be available during the fair for those who wish to register their stock.
  8. Coops are assigned in the following manner: Coops are divided among Stark County Rabbit Club members and Stark County residents. Remaining coops will be divided among out of county exhibitors.
  9. Show will be limited to the number of open cages.
  10. Exhibitors will be notified by Wednesday August 24th  if their entry must be reduced or denied.
  11. All entries must be received by Saturday August 13, 2016
Entry Fee for all classes $1.50.
 
All Breeds sanctioned through their respective breed clubs will receive the required pay back for Best of Breed and Best Opposite of Breed. All other breeds having at least 10 animals shown, and limited to the top 10 breeds only, will receive $2.00 for Best of Breed and $1.00 for Best Opposite of Breed.
 
$4.00 Best Display will be given to the top 10 breeds having the largest entry.
 
Meat Pens and Single Fryers will receive premiums equal to 100% of the total entry fees for these classes. 1st place 50%, 2nd place 30%, 3rd place 20%. Meat Pens are to consist of 3 rabbits not over the age of 69 days and not over the weight of 5 lbs. each.
 
Cavy
 
Each of the 13 recognized breeds shown will receive:
  • $2.00 Best of Breed
  • $1.00 Best Opposite of Breed
  • $4.00 Best overall Cavy display
All Premiums and awards must be picked up during check out or they will be forfeited.
 
Any Exhibitor who does not check in with the Show Secretary will have their entry scratched.

  • All entries confined to Stark County, unless otherwise stated.
  • All items must be delivered to Supt. of Dept. on Monday, August 29 between the hours of 12:00 noon and 8:00 pm.  Except the Grange Displays.
  • All entries will remain in place until pick up, Tuesday, September 6, 12:00 noon to 5:30 pm
  • No exhibitor may make more than one entry per class.
  • One entry in class does not constitute first place.
  • For your benefit, we reserve the right to sub-divide ANY of the classes if too full.
  • Only One (1) Entry per class per person.
Decision of the judges will be final.
 
Premiums must be picked up during fair. No premiums will be mailed or held after closing of fair.

All entrants must purchase a membership ticket or an exhibitor ticket at a cost of $25.00 from the Fair Office (located at the rear of the Grandstand) before making an entry. All articles will be exhibited with proper protection from handling and possible theft. A watchman will be on duty at all times. The Fairboard will use reasonable care but will, under NO circumstances, be responsible for any loss or breakage that occurs.

Hay Show
The Stark County Soil and Water Conservation will co-sponsor the hay show. Ribbons will be awarded to the first three places per class. Two slices of hay should be brought for judging. A plaque will be presented from the Agricultural Society for the best hay of the show. Hay will be judged on the following:

Open to any Stark County Commercial Grower and those in Adjoining Counties. Any Commercial Grower will be allowed at least six (6) frontage feet in the Grange Hall to display Fruits, Vegetables, Honey Gift packages, Ornamental Corn, and other items normally sold in your roadside marketing establishment on a seasonal or year around basis. An attractive sign should be used for your firm. All items must be displayed in an attractive manner. Any perishable fruit or vegetable should be replaced as necessary to keep display attractive throughout the 7-day Fair. Exhibitors may take future orders during the Fair. Entries close Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 5:00 pm.  All displays should be in place, in Grange Hall, by 9:00 pm, Monday, August 29, 2016.

  • WINE JUDGING STANDARD:  Appearance, Aroma/Bouquet, Taste/texture, Aftertaste and Overall Impression

Entry Rules:

  1. Homemade wine is open to all adult competitors.
  2. Wines may be made from grapes, other fruits, berries, vegetables, grains and other suitable ingredients or blend of these
  3. Ingredients may be fresh, canned, dried, concentrated, or otherwise perserved
  4. Wines should be amateur - homemade by the process of fermentation and must not be bleneded with commercial wines
  5. Wines appropriate for the fortification may be fortified with sitable commercial spirits
  6. Each bottle must be labeled as to the kind of fruit (product) used.
  7. East bottle will be opened for judging and recorked and left on display.
  8. Effective February 1, 1979, no federal certificate is needed for wines made for home use.  This provision also allows wine made at home to be taken from the premises for exhbibition or use at homemakers contests.
  9. No bottle is to be taller than 12 inches for display purposes.
  10. When ther is NO competition, the jduge may award first or no premium, according to the merits of the exhibit.

Descriptions for Judging

  1. Red Dry - Red, blue, or purple of suitable taste and alcohol content for dinner table use
  2. White Dry - White or golden with no tinge of bron, pink, or gray; of suitable taste and alcohol content for table wine.
  3. Rose Dry - Pink, no tinge of brown; Delicate in bouquet and flavor; light in body and alcohol; suitable for table wine.
  4. White Sweet - White or golden with no tinge of pink, brown, or gray;  Heavier body and flavor and higher alcohol content than dry table wine.  Suitable for general social drinking.
  5. Rose Sweet - Same as dry rose except finished slightly sweeter.
  6. Dessert - Red, blue, purple, tawny or dark brown; Rich in bouquet and flavor; medium to sweeet;  Full bodied and of High alcohol content;  May be fortified.
  7. Sparkling Wine - Red, white or rose; Must be naturally carbonated through fermentation; May be sweet or dry; A judicious balance of sweetness.

SHOW “A” - Judging Tuesday, AUG. 30th – 9:30 am
  • Entries for exhibit should be delivered to Supt. of Dept. on Monday, August 29 between 12 noon and 8:00 pm.
  • Entries must be removed after 8:00 pm, Friday, SEPT. 6, except for entries in Potted Plant, Terrariums and Flower Boxes which must remain the entire 7 days of the fair.
SHOW “B” - Judging Saturday, SEPT. 3rd – 1:30 pm
  • Entries for exhibit should be delivered to Supt. of Dept. Saturday, SEPT. 5, 2015, between the hours of 10:00 am and 12 noon.

  • Please use your own interpretation for this year’s theme. Each exhibitor will be offered an area of their choosing, to be decorated for the beautification of the fairgrounds for the week of August 30th through September 5th using the designated theme. Outside spaces will be offered throughout the fairgrounds in the order in which entries are received. Superintendent will determine size of display area, according to availability. Stark County Agricultural Society is not responsible for lost or stolen items in display.
  • A $25.00 membership is required for entry. Payable to the Stark County Agricultural Society at P O Box 80279, Canton, Ohio 44708. Name of organization must be displayed and area must be maintained throughout the week of the fair.
  • Entries and membership payment must be received on or before August 13, 2016 by 5:00 pm, at the fair office.

Exhibitor will inform the Superintendent of the Department at the time of delivery if they will allow their entry to be auctioned or not. Auction will be held in front of the Grange Building. Kiko Auctioneers will do the honors.

     "Avocado Chocolate Chip Cookie”

  • 1 Cup + 2 Tbsp Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 tsp Corn Starch
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Bking Powder
  • 1/4 Cup Mashed Avocado
  • 1/4 Cup + 2 Tbsp White Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 Large Egg + 1 Yolk
  • 3/4 Cup + 2 Tbsp Chocolate Chips (truthfully, I just ue however many I want on this!)

   Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven to 350 degrees
  2. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper and set asie
  3. In a medium bowl, combin whole wheat flour, corn starch, salt and baking powder together and set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, cut and mash avocado, sugars, vanilla, egg and egg yolk together with mixer an beat until well combined with no lumps
  5. Slowly stir flour mixture into avocado mixture.
  6. Add chocolate chips and mx untl all ingredients are well combined.
  7. Place bowl in fridge for 2 hours.
  8. Using hands, shape cookie dough into tablespoon size balls and place on cookie sheet.
  9. Slightly flatten cookie dough balls with a fork.
  10. Bake for 13 minutes.
  11. Let cool for 5-7 minutes.

"Samoa Bundt Cake"

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 Cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 Cup Butter - Softened
  • 1 (16 ounce) Package Light Brown Sugar
  • 3 Large Eggs
  • 2 Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 (8 ounce) Container Sour Cream
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Cup Hot Water

Caramel Frosting:

  • 3/4 Cup Butter (1 12 Sticks)
  • 1/4 Cup Jarred Caramel Sauce
  • 3 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 1/2 to 2 Tbsp Heavy Cream or Milk

Toppings:

  • 1 1/2 Cup Sweetened Shredded Coconut - Toasted
  • Caramel Sauce
  • Hot Fudge Sauce

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease and flour bundt pan (or use baking spray)

  1. Melt chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl (heat at 20 seconds interval until smooth when stirred)  Set aside.
  2. Beat butter and brown sugar with an elctric mixer until blended well (about 5 minutes)
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  4. Beat in melted chocolate just until blended.
  5. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt.
  6. Add flour mixture to batter, alternating with sour cream, beating at LOW speed just until blended after each addition.
  7. Slowly, with mixer on LOW speed, add hot water.
  8. Stir in vanilla
  9. Pour batter into prepared bundt cake,
  10. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes or until a wooden pick insert comes out clean.  Let cool 10 minutes in pan, then remove cake from pan to cool completely.
  11. To make frosting, beat butter and caramel sauce until creamy.  Gradually beat in powdered sugar, beat in enough heavy cream to get to desired connsistency.
  12. Spread frosting on cooled cake.
  13. Sprinkle toasted coconut on cake and drizzle with caramel sauce and hot fudge sauce.

  • All entries must be made in name of the owner, product of exhibitor’s skill and handicraft since 2015 Fair.
  • No exhibitor may make more than one (1) entry per class.
  • One entry in class does not constitute first place or Best of Show
  • For your benefit, we reserve the right to sub-divide ANY of the classes if too full.

Decision of the judges will be final.

 
Premiums must be picked up during fair. No premiums will be mailed or held after closing of fair.

All entrants must purchase a membership ticket or an exhibitor ticket at a cost of $25.00 from the Fair Office (located at the rear of the Grandstand) before making an entry. Any entry sheet must be returned to Senior Fairboard office by August 13, 2016.
 
All articles will be exhibited with proper protection from handling and possible theft. A watchman will be on duty at all times. The Fairboard will use reasonable care but will, under NO circumstances, be responsible for any loss or breakage that occurs.
